Alberto El Patron Stripped of GFW Championship

Global Force Wrestling has taken the decision to remove their World Championship from Alberto El Patron. What do you think?

It’s safe to say, the decision to put the Global Force Wrestling (GFW) World Championship on Alberto El Patron hasn’t worked out. After being suspended last month for an airport bust up with fiance, WWE Superstar Paige, the company has now decided to strip him of his Championship – with immediate effect.

Releasing a statement via the GFW website, the company explained;

“GFW has concluded its internal consideration of the events surrounding the suspension of Alberto El Patron. While it is apparent that initial reports unfairly characterized El Patron’s involvement in the incident in the Orlando airport, we are nonetheless disappointed with the manor [sic] in which he dealt with this situation; we expect more decorum from all on the GFW roster, especially the World Champion.”

“We have communicated with El Patron our decision to strip him of his championship title. No decision has been taken as to the date on which he will be reinstated to the roster, the conditions of which are a private matter between the company and El Patron.”

El Patron taped a series of shows for GFW prior to his suspension – which have continued to air in the subsequent weeks. Given that GFW will be taping its shows up to the October Bound for Glory pay per view, him not appearing would signal the end of his working relationship.

With John Morrison set to land in GFW soon, and Rey Mysterio rumored to be joining as soon as he can, the company certainly won’t be short of star power in the continued absence of their World Champion.

I applaud GFW for making the decision. El Patron’s handling of the situation left a lot to be desired – serving to bring a darker cloud to the forefront. While he remains a big name in the pro wrestling indie scene – there’s no doubt that right now, he’s damaged goods.

Do you agree with this decision?
