Netflix has announced that Season 5 of the hugely popular ‘Arrested Development’ will land in 2018 – exclusively on the streaming platform.
Arrested Development has enjoyed some huge success over the years, garnering a massive fan base that’s remained loyal to the show – no matter where it ended up. Now fans can get hyped again, as Netflix has announced that a fifth season of the show will be landing sometime in 2018.
Netflix has announced that it will be continuing the mis-adventures of the Bluth family – with a fifth season of the show being pencilled in for a 2018 air date. The entire cast is reported to be on board too, so series regulars like Jason Batemen, Michael Cera, Jeffrey Tambor, Jessica Walter, Will Arnett, Tony Hale, Portia de Rossi, David Cross and Alia Shawkat will be making their return.
The shows creator Mitchell Hurwitz released a statement about the upcoming series Arrested Development, explaining just how happy he is to continue his show over on Netflix:
“In talks with Netflix we all felt that stories about a narcissistic, erratically behaving family in the building business — and their desperate abuses of power — are really underrepresented on TV these days. I am so grateful to them and to 20th TV for making this dream of mine come true in bringing the Bluths, George Sr., Lucille and the kids; Michael, Ivanka, Don Jr., Eric, George-Michael, and who am I forgetting, oh Tiffany. Did I say Tiffany? — back to the glorious stream of life.”
Ron Howard, who acts as producer for the show (and also serves as the series main narrator) revealed his happiness at the announcement being made;
“Whew! I can finally answer the question … Hell yes! Warming up my uncredited narrator vocal chords. Now the only thing I will have to be coy about is all the craziness the Bluths are going to face this season.”
Arrested Development Season 4 landed on Netflix back in May 2013. It was a huge success for the company, helping to draw in fans of the television series and setting the bar for the platform’s future television content.
In order to work around the schedules of the cast and crew, the narrative of Season 4 jumped around the timeline – allowing actors to be absent without harming continuity.
Arrested Development Season 5 will stream on Netflix sometime in 2018. We can’t wait.
