Has The Barclay’s Center Twitter Just Spoiled SummerSlam’s Main Event?

Someone’s getting a shouting at…

This Sunday, four of WWE’s biggest Superstars will compete in the main event of SummerSlam for the chance to become WWE Universal Champion. The odds are heavily stacked against Brock Lesnar retaining his belt, so much so that he’s promised to walk out of WWE should he lose. So spare a thought for the poor soul who runs the Barclays Center Twitter account, who quite possibly has just spoiled the SummerSlam main event.

The tweet went up in the morning (for US readers) and included a very spoiler heavy tagline which read;

“JUST ANNOUNCED: Universal Champion “The Beast* Brock Lesnar will be live on WWE Raw this Monday, 8/21!”

Except that wasn’t announced by WWE. Or anyone for that matter. The Tweet very obviously went up too early and was very quickly removed by the account – but not before numerous Twitter accounts grabbed the image for themselves.

While it may be referred to Brock Lesnar as the Universal Champion because he is currently, it seems awkwardly spoilerific of the Twitter account to announce that he’ll be appearing on the post-SummerSlam Raw – when the heavy story focus for the main event has been that Brock Lesnar will be leaving WWE should he lose. It’s a bizarre slip up that we can only assume wasn’t meant for public eyes today – given the speed at which it was removed.

Given that many bookies have shifted the odds on the match in favor of Brock Lesnar, it would seem that the odds of Brock Lesnar retaining are high. WWE have been playing up fevered speculation that the former UFC Champion may be looking to jump back into the Octagon  – with reports suggesting he may be seeking to re-enter the drug testing pool.

Whatever happens, it’s certainly making for one of the most anticipated SummerSlam main events of all time. Brock Lesnar will face Roman Reigns, Samoa Joe and Braun Strowman at the event.

Who do you think will be walking out of SummerSlam as the WWE Universal Champion?
