Huge news if you’re a fan of Doctor Who and David Tennant – the Scottish actor is set to reprise his role as the iconic Doctor Who in a new three-part audio series – and he’ll be reuniting with Rose Tyler.

The announcement comes from Big Finish Productions, who will be producing three all-new adventures featuring the pair – set back in their heyday.

Producer David Richardson discussed the announcement of Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor Adventures – Volume 2, explaining that it was an easy decision for the company to make;

“We were thrilled by the response to the first volume…. David Tennant and Catherine Tate were on fantastic form, and it’s so exciting to reunite David with Billie Piper, playing the Doctor and Rose together again after nine years! Their time in the series transformed Doctor Who into a prime-time and international hit, and we’ve worked very hard to live up to the incredible standards of Russell T Davies.”

Nicholas Briggs, who will be playing Ice Warriors Lord Hasskor and Warrior Slaan, explained;

“It was such a special time for me, working with Billie and David on the TV show…. and it is such an honour to revisit it with them on audio.”

The mini-series will encompass three new stories. ‘Attack of the Zaross’ will see an alien invasion of Earth isn’t quite what it seems. The second episode will be ‘Sword of the Chevalier’, with The Doctor and Rose arriving in glamorous Slough in 1791. Here they encounter an enigmatic ex-spy who has lived his life as a woman, and tackle alien slavers intent on trafficking human cargo. The final episode of the series will be ‘Cold Vengeance’, a clash with the Doctor’s old enemies the Ice Warriors.

The story will also see the return of Camille Coduri as Rose’s mum Jackie Tyler.

It’s a real treat for long-time fans and showcases the effectiveness of using audiobooks as a way of extending the lifespan of certain Doctor’s runs We’ll be checking them out when they land.
