Dwayne Johnson Talks ‘Black Adam’ Movie DC Cinematic Universe Plans

Dwayne Johnson talks about his upcoming stint in the DCEU – discussing Black Adam and teasing future developments for his role in said universe.

Dwayne Johnson is a very busy man these days. With Fate of the Furious hitting cinemas and a whole roster of upcoming movies to keep him busy, it’s any wonder he has time to commit to cinematic universes. But commit he has, and with a huge role in the DC Cinematic Universe at that. Now the megastar has spoken about the upcoming Shazam movie, and how plans for it are evolving quickly.

Reports surfaced back in January that Warner Bros was looking to split any Shazam movie into two entries. This would allow the DCEU to give more time to Black Adam and Shazam respectively. Speaking to MTV, Dwayne Johnson has confirmed this;

“We’ve had great discussions with Geoff Johns over there at DC. This is a really, really fun, cool time for DC right now because they’re really in a process of truly world building, and building out. We’re seeing that with Wonder Woman and Aquaman, and we have a few surprises down the line. So what we decided to do was actually create a scenario where Black Adam is having his standalone movie, Captain Marvel/Shazam will have his standalone movie, and then we’re building our world up that way and then we can come together at some other point.”

It confirms that Black Adam will be treated as separate characters, something that originally was not the case. Johnson then went on to tease even more;

“We have a surprise for Black Adam coming up. I can’t tell you what it is, but it is gonna be… it’s gonna be fucking awesome.”

We’ll have to wait and see what this surprise is – but rest assured we’re very interested to see what Warner Bros has got in store for its cinematic universe. Let’s be fair, they can’t mess it anymore than they already have.

Are you pleased with these plans? Do you think it’s the right direction for the characters?
