If you’re a huge fan of Netflix’s Marvel mini-universe, then you’ll know that The Defenders is barreling down the rails towards us. This mini-team up focuses on the stars of New Yorks Hells Kitchen neighbourhood – and it promises to be hugely entertaining. Now, thanks to a viral online campaign, we know that The Defenders will be landing this August on the streaming service.
An online video showcased a peculiar number in the corner. If you put those numbers in your browser (http://18.104.22.168), it’ll redirect to a website for The New York Bulletin, the newspaper where Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page now works. At the bottom is a message which reads,
“Watch Marvel’s The Defenders All Episodes Streaming Only on Netflix August 18.”
The Defenders is a team consisting of Luke Cage, Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist. All of these characters have received their own series on the streaming network (In Daredevil’s case, it’s now two!) and have crossed over in small ways already.
Critical reception for the roster of Netflix series has been high, with most receiving thumbs up from critics and audiences. The most recent of these (Iron Fist) did not enjoy much critical praise however. It was also trapped in controversy for switching out the ethnicity of the main character.
We’re hugely excited for The Defenders here and can’t wait to see all the threads come together.
Will you be checking out the show when it hits?
