‘Mass Effect: Andromeda’ Claims Top Spot In UK Sales Charts

Mass Effect: Andromeda storms to the top of the UK sales chart this week – how did the rest of the lineup fare this week?

It’s been a huge few weeks for video games – with the release of a number of game of the year contenders. This week saw the release of yet another, with EA and Bioware releasing the latest Mass Effect into gamers hands. The big question – did it do enough to capture the top spot in this weeks UK Sales Charts?

Bioware’s Mass Effect: Andromeda managed to capture the top spot – pushing aside Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands in the process. Not surprising considering that the game was one of the years most anticipated. It will be interesting to see if the continued negative discussion around the game and its various shortcomings comes back to harm the title in the long-term.

Outside of this, the top 10 continues to be made of the bigger games released in the last 6 months, with Lego Worlds, Horizon Zero Dawn and Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild continuing to sell well on their respective consoles.

Microsoft though is the biggest loser of the big three consoles – With only one exclusive title inside the Top 10 this week. Halo Wars 2 also made some strong gains – pushing several positions up to 11, though it continues to show how weak Xbox One exclusive sales are against their PlayStation counterparts.

Most interesting among the Top 20 – 1-2-Switch seemingly collapsing from the Top 10 and barely holding its position inside the Top 20. It’s a sign that perhaps gamers have cottoned on to the lack of value for the title and are giving it a wide berth.

Are you surprised by the list?
