Naomi Drops Smackdown Live Women’s Championship

When Naomi captured the WWE Smackdown Live Women’s Championship back at Elimination Chamber, it was a huge moment for her and the fans that have followed her. Now though we know that she is no longer Champion, having been stripped of the Championship by Daniel Bryan, with Alexa Bliss being crowned the new Smackdown Live Women’s Champion.

The decision was made by Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon, who said Naomi would not be able to compete within the WWE’s 30-day Championship window. It means that she’s been forced to drop the Championship without defending it.

In place of her, Bryan announced a match between Alexa Bliss and Becky Lynch for the Smackdown Live Women’s Championship. The pair fought for the vacated Championship – with Alexa Bliss able to overcome her long time adversary and become the first two-time Smackdown Live Women’s Champion.

Naomi picked up her knee injury back at Elimination Chamber during her entrance. The injury didn’t surface until the conclusion of the match, when she attempted to rest the knee. Naomi is one of WWE’s longest-serving women wrestlers, and so capturing the belt after eight years was a long time coming.

What will this mean as we head into Wrestlemania? Will Naomi return to capture her Championship?n
