When this was shown on WWE television this past Sunday, I genuinely thought it was a joke. Then I saw the press release and realized that KFC’s Colonel Sanders wasn’t just available to make in WWE 2K18, he’s a legit Superstar in the game.
Announced in a new trailer, KFC’s Colonel Sanders will be making his in-ring WWE debut during WWE 2K18 – where players will get the chance to take Sanders to the top of the WWE mountain. No news has been given over what his move set will be in the game, although we’d be hugely let down if the chicken wing suplex doesn’t feature somewhere in there. He better also get an amazing entrance theme.
Sanders joins the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator, who made his own surprise appearance in WWE 2K16. WWE games have an amusing habit of including some oddball characters – I’d be hard-pressed to find one that’s legit more surprising than Colonel Sanders (Although some do come close).
This ties into the bigger commercial deal between KFC and WWE, which has been a thing for well over a year now. They’ve had various Superstars dress up as chicken in the last 12 months to promote the fried chicken outlet – so this shouldn’t really surprise anyone.
WWE 2K18 was recently announced to be arriving on PC alongside its console companions, a first for the series. It marks the first time that PC gamers will get to dive in at the release of a WWE game since WWE Raw in 2003. Considering how creative the mod community around previous games has been, I can’t wait to see what kind of KFC madness gamers come up with for the PC edition of the game.
Are you excited for WWE 2K18? Will you be trying it out when it touches down?
