Bad news fans of Samoa Joe. It seems that the Raw Superstar has picked another injury, potentially putting him out of action for a few weeks and out of WWE’s upcoming Mixed Match Challenge in the process.

The confirmation comes via PWInsider, who state that Joe has picked up an injury in recent weeks. The way WWE moved him on from Roman Reigns was a sign that the company is working to protect him working a hard schedule.

It should be noted, Joe confirmed his participation in the upcoming Royal Rumble match last night during Monday Night Raw.

Samoa Joe was set to team with Bayley in WWE’s Mixed Match Challenge after the pair were pushed together via fan vote. This obviously won’t come to pass now, with Raw General Manager Kurt Angle confirming both the injury and Elias as Bayley’s new partner.

The exact nature of the injury hasn’t been disclosed by WWE or the Superstar, although we can guess it must be bad enough that they’ve opted to make the above decision. The Mixed Match Challenge is being hyped hard by the company – it’s likely Joe would have been a big name during the show.

If we find out more specific information, we’ll be sure to pass along the information.

Our Take: It’s disappointing to see Joe injured again, although it’s not clear if the injury itself will keep him out for all that long. The decision to remove him from the MMC is a sign that he might not be able to work over the next few weeks – potentially putting him out of the Royal Rumble.

There have been rumors in recent weeks that he was set to take on John Cena at Wrestlemania 34, which would have been a huge showcase for the former TNA champion. Here’s hoping that he’s able to make a full recovery and get back into action before too long.
