Fans who attended Comic Con last week were given one hell of an exclusive – the first footage from Avengers: Infinity War. Naturally the internet went wild at this – but it seems Marvel isn’t willing to give audiences that footage quite yet.
Talking with Comicbook.com, Avengers: Infinity War director Joe Russo explained that it will be a while yet before eager Marvel fans are given the hugely desired trailer.
“You know, all I can say is that when the footage comes out we want it to be exactly right. So we are taking our time and working on that footage because, as you can imagine, the levels of visual effects in these movies are unprecedented and there are certain things in this footage at Comic-Con that works specifically for a Comic-Con audience. But when we go wide, to a wide audience, we have to make sure that footage works for a wide audience.”
The footage is online in various shaky camera guises (We can’t tell you where, but they are around). For fans who couldn’t make the trip to Comic Con, it’s probably as good as it’ll get right now. It’s likely Marvel don’t want to overshadow their upcoming movies (Thor: Ragnorok and Black Panther) – both of which are slated to arrive before the next Avengers movie.
The trailer showcases a huge selection of the characters that will ultimately make up Infinity War’s cast. It shows Spider-Man, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor and all the other A-List Avengers.
The trailer also adds tot he suspicion that Marvel may use their mega blockbuster as a chance to kill of some of the characters for good. Given that the trailer seemingly ends with Thanos throwing a whole planet at the group of superheroes. Clearly not everyone is going to make it through the film – but how many will be left out of the Phase Four slate of movies?
