For those of us who fought through the tedious slog that was AMC’s The Walking Dead Season 7, the promise of more to come is probably the only thing that kept fans on board. Now with Season 8 mere weeks away, the cast has begun to talk up the exciting prospects that will be on show.

Speaking with Australian radio station Triple J, Chandler Riggs discussed the upcoming season of Walking Dead – explaining that the upcoming season will be high on the death count.

“Season 7 was all about building up and getting everyone ready to fight against Negan, and this season there’s going to be lots of explosions, lots of killing, a lot more Negan… Yeah, lots of fighting, lots of cool stuff. It’s really, really fun this season.”

“We’ve had a few characters this season who I feel so bad for, because they’re coming in in the midst of all the war and the craziness with the explosions and everything. Yeah, I mean I definitely feel like an OG or a veteran because I’ve been on since I was 10. I still love it. I still have so much fun doing it. Especially in the last few seasons, getting to do more and more with my character and interactions with the other characters. It’s been really, really awesome.”

It all sounds very engaging and hugely exciting for audiences, who are waiting patiently for the popular show to return in the Fall.

Part of Season 7’s problem is that a lot of the episodes saw nothing actually happening. Negan’s army was confined to plotlines that didn’t make much sense in the overall arc of the show. Instead of giving audiences reasons to hang around.

The Walking Dead season 8 will premiere on AMC on Sunday the 22nd of October, before airing on Fox UK the following day.
