Rich Swann’s long road to WWE is well documented. The former WWE Cruiserweight Champion has managed to endear himself through his great in-ring skill to the WWE Universe. Yet reports emerging from Florida suggest that the Superstar is in hot water with law enforcement.

That’s according to reports emerging from the US.The former WWE Cruiserweight Champion is said to have been arrested early this morning at 12.09am in Gainesville, Florida. Alachua County Sheriff in Florida stated that the 26-year-old faces allegations of kidnap, false imprisonment of an adult and battery.

To understand the severity of the charges, kidnapping and false imprisonment in Florida is a third-degree felony, punishable by up to five years in prison as well as a $5,000 fine. Battery is a first-degree misdemeanor in Florida, with the punishment resulting in up to one year in jail or 12 months probation and a $1,000 fine.

Awkwardly on this week’s upcoming edition of Monday Night Raw, Swann is scheduled in a four-way match to help determine the next challenger to Enzo Amore’s Cruiserweight Championship.

WWE has typically come down hard on Superstars who run foul of the law, in particular when they end up being arrested. Adam Rose was also released after he was arrested for over a domestic incident a few years back.

Rich Swann was the third man to capture the WWE Cruiserweight Championship, defeating The Brian Kendrick to capture the belt. He would eventually go on to lose the Championship to British Superstar Neville – would go on to hold the Championship for several months. Since holding the belt, Swann has become one of the division’s more popular personalities.

WWE has yet to address the situation, we would expect the company to react pretty harshly over the charges.

Our Take: If the charges hold, don’t be surprised to see WWE cut the Superstar quickly
