With just under two weeks to go until the biggest show of the WWE year, you’d expect Championships to be firmly fixed to their champions. Not so on Smackdown Live, where American Alpha’s run as the Smackdown Live Tag-Team Champions came to an abrupt end – thanks to The Usos.
The veteran tag-team captured the Smackdown Live Tag-Team Championships during the opening match of this evenings Smackdown Live show, in a thrilling match against American Alpha. The match, announced by WWE during this week, wasn’t expected to deliver any kind of shocking result.
American Alpha surprised many by capturing the Championships from The Wyatt Family earlier this year – defeating the team of Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton. They’ve held the Championships since, defending them in several matches.
It marks The Uso’s first time holding the brand specific Tag-Team Championship, and third time overall – having held the WWE Tag Team Championships twice before.
With Wrestlemania not two weeks away, it’ll be interesting to see how American Alpha respond to the upset victory. Certainly it will surprise many of the teams fans, who likely expected the pair to carry the belts into Wrestlemania.
What do you think 0 was this a good idea for Smackdown Live?
