Fans waiting for the new Star Wars: The Last Jedi movie to touch down don’t have all that long to wait. The hugely anticipated movie touches down this December – giving audiences the eighth chapter in the Skywalker Star Wars saga. Tonight they were rewarded with a trailer for the movie, which seemingly goes to show there’s a lot at stake throughout.

The trailer gives us a good at the training of Rey – the new main character of the Star Wars saga. At the end of The Force Awakens, she was seen locating Luke Skywalker, who didn’t seem all that happy to see her. It’s interesting to see him label her powers as “scary” in the trailer, indicating that she might very well be as powerful as Kylo Renn.

Speaking of the lord of darkness, it seems he’ll be getting a better showing this time. Seen flying his own fighter, it appears that he’s continuing to grapple with the inner turmoil that tied him to his parents, with his mother Leia seemingly in his sights. It’ll be interesting to see just how his character develops in the movie, in particular given that the end of the trailer seemingly teases the mother of all showdowns between Kylo and Rey.

We also get our first real look at the mysterious Snoke character. In The Force Awakens, he was seen only via holograms and discussions with Renn. Here we seem to see him in the same room as Rey – suggesting that he comes out of the shadows to help bring her over to the dark side.

The trailer also shows off a number of impressive set pieces with space battles, land battles and more seemingly on the way. Certainly, fans who felt that The Force Awakens played things a little too safe may be happy to see a few more stakes thrown into the mix this time.

Are you happy with the trailer? Will you be checking out The Last Jedi?
