WWE SummerSlam 2017 might not be the most exciting of pay-per-views, but it’s certainly a hugely memorable one. Both Raw and Smackdown Live made the decision to put their Champions in matches – which resulted in new Champions across the board. Congratulations to both Sasha Banks and Natalya on their new Championships.

Natalya captured the WWE Smackdown Live Women’s Championship from Naomi. The match between them had its moments, but it’s the finish that will ultimately be remembered. Natalya made the former Champion tap out to her signature Sharpshooter finishing hold.

Natalya earned her opportunity back at WWE Battleground, defeating four other women for the chance to challenge Naomi for the belt at SummerSlam.

The Championship marks the second title held by Natalya during her WWE tenure. The first was the WWE Divas Championship all the way back in 2010. Natalya has long been considered one of the most underutilized Superstars on the WWE roster, so it’s great to see her finally getting her moment at the top of the Women’s Division.

Sasha Banks Raw Women’s Championship win marks the fourth time that she’s held the Championship, fifth in total. Having previously held the NXT Championship, it only adds to the impressive haul of Championships she’s amassed within the company.

Sasha Banks earned the opportunity when the original number one contender, Bayley, was forced to vacate her position after falling injured several weeks back. Sasha faced Nia Jax for the chance to challenge Alexa Bliss at SummerSlam.

Sasha winning again makes sense if the plan is to turn her heel. The eventual story obviously involves Bayley, who was seen in a pre-match segment wishing her friend good luck. Sasha Banks needs something a bit different to help light the Raw Women’s Division on fire.

Who should challenge the new Champions first? Is this a good time to bring up NXT talent to face them?
